The road from Colombo to the Nuwara Eliya plateau winds upward via Pussellawa Valley and the Melfort Tea Estate, where tea has been grown since 1914. In 2004 an ultra-modern plant for the production of green tea was put into operation. Under excellent climatic conditions exceptional green teas are produced. The quality of Melfort's green tea impressed us with its matt, olive-green, coarse open ball leaf, with its echoes of traditional Chinese tea ceremony. The infusion smells fresh, fruity and spicy. In the gold-luminous cup you can enjoy a spicy powerful bouquet with a full body and a slight bite.
